Happier Feet
ADVANCE published an article about plantar fasciitis in our Oct. 4 issue titled "Happier Feet" (http://physical-therapy.advanceweb.com/Archives/Article-Archives/Happier-Feet.aspx). Interestingly, the condition can be prevalent both among competitive runners as well as the overweight/middle-aged, two patient populations that might seem unlikely to be grouped together. According to our interview sources, the good news is PT intervention can be very effective in the treatment of plantar fasciitis, through some combination of stretching, strengthening, cold treatments, modalities, taping and even night socks. How prevalent a condition is plantar fasciitis among the patient population at your clinic? Which treatments do you use and how effective have those efforts been?
