A Healthy 2010
So many times, we make New Year’s resolutions concerning our health that go by the wayside in February. Instead of dwelling on them, let’s remember the healthy living successes we had this year.
The best decision I made for my health in 2010 was to take a 15-minute walk every day, weather-permitting. Besides the physical benefits of getting up and moving, which I blogged about here, I’ve noticed a mental benefit too. I’ve gotten ideas for blogs, figured out the opening to complicated articles and come up with a brilliant Facebook post, all while circling the walking trail at the office park.
Such a simple thing, but it packs a big punch. Of course, moving around during the day doesn’t replace regular exercise, but it might be just as important. According to recent studies, people who lead sedentary lifestyles are more likely to die young, regardless of whether or not they exercise.
Getting up from my desk was my health win of 2010. How about you? Are you eating more whole grains? Practicing yoga? Watching less TV? What was the best thing you did for your health this year?
