Many Reasons To Be Thankful This Thanksgiving

In addition to visiting with loved ones, Thanksgiving is a time for being grateful and for building and reliving strong traditions. The Food and Nutrition Services employees at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis, MO, are preparing to celebrate their very own annual holiday tradition.

Before the sun rises on Thanksgiving morning, the staff will prepare 15 golden brown turkeys in the hospital's ovens to be transported to Hosea House, an independent, interfaith agency that provides direct assistance to needy families and individuals in south St. Louis.

Executive Chef Wayne Sieve will oversee the preparation of the turkeys and once they cool, he will package them to be transported by volunteer drivers from St. Louis University High School in time for the facility's annual Thanksgiving dinner.

"Faithful to St. Anthony's service tradition, we are pleased to partner with other area hospitals and retailers in support of the community," shared Linda Seffens, director of Food and Nutrition Services.

To help you get ready for your very own Thanksgiving celebration, Chef Sieve happily demonstrates his tried-and-true method for preparing and cooking a perfect turkey, and Seffens shares tips on how to be organized heading into the holiday and how to safely handle your own holiday turkey.
