Sun, Sights and and a Presidential Perspective
SAN DIEGO -- The ADVANCE staff managed to escape the frigid Northeast this week and touch down safely yesterday at San Diego International Airport for the 2013 APTA Combined Sections Meeting. In case you're wondering, yes, it really is 75 and sunny here in late January. And the Pacific Ocean is beautiful. Tough gig, I know, but somebody has to do it. A friend back at the office just texted me that it's 21 degrees in Philly. I feel bad for him. Kind of.
But there's more to do here than just enjoy the great weather, eat some delicious swordfish tacos and wash it all down with a refreshing adult beverage. The APTA is putting on another memorable CSM, with more than 9,000 enthusiastic attendees and a variety of informative conference programming.
It's also the first CSM for newly elected APTA President Paul Rockar Jr., PT, DPT, MS. ADVANCE Editor Lisa Lombardo and I took the chance to introduce ourselves to Dr. Rockar, who was kind enough to sit down with us for a video interview detailing the current practice environment for physical therapy, challenges facing the profession and what he hopes to accomplish during his tenure in office.
We'll be posting that video in four parts on the ADVANCE site next month so stay tuned!
