Back to Work
After two lazy weeks, it's time for classes to start back up. While I could have thought of more enjoyable ways to spend the past three months, I do admit that I'm happy to have one semester completed. Rumor has it that this coming fall is not as intense as the summer was. I'm reserving judgment until the first few weeks are over, but it's worth hoping for.
This time around, we will start to get into the fundamentals of PT practice, which is an exciting shift from anatomy and kinesiology. We'll have patient management, the first musculoskeletal course, cardiopulmonary PT, research methods and survey of human disease. I'm excited to start learning the basics, particularly because we'll also be in the clinic twice per week. Hopefully we'll be able to apply some of what we are learning to our experiences in the clinic.
Most of us are anticipating the clinical more than anything. We all have a mixture of anxiety and excitement about it, but we also recognize that the affiliation will be a great learning experience. I'm sure I'll be talking about those experiences a lot in the coming months.
