JUST SAY “NO!”
There is simply not enough time in a day to do all I want and need to do. How about you? If you are like me, always wishing for just a few more minutes--or hours--read on.
In 10 years, what will you regret NOT doing today?
That is what you need to make time for. To make time for your that, whatever your that is, you'll have to say, "No," to other commitments. Every time you say, "Yes," you are saying "No," to at least one other option.
If you are saying "Yes," to working overtime, the reality is that you are saying, "No," to every other option for that time slot: "No," to spending time with your family, "No," to watching your son's soccer game, "No," to writing a letter to a friend, "No," to going with your spouse to a basketball game, "No," to getting a massage.
For every hour you choose to watch television or engage your computer, you are declining outdoor activities. For every 30 minutes you spend on paperwork, there are 30 minutes of hands-on treatment a client isn't receiving.
To make room for activities that you want to do, you'll have to say, "No," to some other activities that currently fill your day. For those required tasks (paperwork-ugh), look for ways to work smarter. Find someone who does the same task more efficiently and ask their counsel.
Life is about priorities. You decide how you will spend every minute. One of my favorite sayings is, "Every minute you spend being mad is 60 seconds of lost happiness." Yes, you really decide to be mad...or scared...or happy. And for how long!
How will you decide to spend your next minute? And the one after that?
