Last Christmas

Published December 23, 2009 9:36 AM by Janey Goude
I have a number of friends who are celebrating this Christmas despite a terminal diagnosis.  Some have been told that - from a medical perspective - this will be their last Christmas.  As I was driving through our town - brightly decorated for the season - I wondered how those friends were spending their Christmas this year.  What they were doing differently?

The reality is this will be the last Christmas for many people.  If you thought it might be your last Christmas, what would you do differently?  What are you waiting for?

Go ahead and celebrate this Christmas differently.  Live 2010 with no regrets.

Thanks for the good cry ladies!

You are both so right.  Time is an underrated and often overlooked gift.  It costs us nothing, yet costs us everything.  There is no other gift that requires us to give so completely of ourselves.

Thanks for the reminder of what is important.

Merry Christmas!

As I see my mom and stepdad, both 85, become more and more frail, I wonder if this will be the last Christmas that I have them with me. The best gift I can give them is my love - small kindnesses and time spent with them - there will be no regrets when they go to be with their Savior and I will be able to celebrate their lives with joy!

Sadly, my friend will have his last Christmas with his young wife (38) and his 5 children.  I think we miss the mark too many times.  It is often I regret working instead of spending more time with my family.  I love you.
