Study Tips
As an addition to last week's post I decided to blog on some more study tips that I have found helpful.
I found that studying for upcoming kinesiology, pathology, etc., exams can almost become fun! Flashcards are an excellent way to do this! It works best when you try to write out the flash cards on your own, and if pictures are needed...draw them! It really doesn't matter if you are good at drawing; it just helps you to learn the material better.
After you make the flashcards and go over the information yourself, try exchanging cards with a classmate to see if they noted extra or different information than you did. This way if there are some conflicts in information, you can discuss it with the professor before you get it wrong on a test. After that, you guys can make a game of it together and test each other.
Another thing that I found really helps is if you ask each other questions that you feel could possibly be on a test. Start off easy, and then try to stump your partner as much as possible. That way it gets you both thinking about the information-and trying to stump each other helps to decrease the anxiety that you would typically build up when you are stumped during the exam. You will be amazed at how much information you know!
Lastly, try going around in a circle naming off things that would be within a listed item like indications/contraindications to therapy. When a person repeats a previous answer then they have to repeat them all in addition to a new item.
Now I will submit a warning: this does not substitute for studying in any way! These are just extra tips to help make refining your studies fun. Hope you guys enjoy it!
