Last Week of Classes!
For the last month or so my classmates and I have been tearing off one paper chain everyday to mark the end of the semester. Now, we are down to the last week of classes, followed by four days of final exams. I'm in absolute shock that this week is the end of my academic career!
I've had some really great professors at Marquette, others not so great. I've done well on some exams, others not so well. I've met great people. I've made lasting connections. While the tuition money is enormous, the memories are priceless.
While being a physical therapist often makes lasting impressions in the lives of our patients, I would argue that teachers are of equal caliber in that category. I've had a handful of professors that absolutely changed the way I look at the world, changed my opinions and challenged me to open my mind to the endless possibilities that exist in the world.
Sometimes I think, "I should write a thank you note to those professors, and let them know how important they are to me and my classmates." But then I convince myself that it would be inappropriate, or I would make some awkward remark, or it just wouldn't be the same if I verbalized what I was thinking versus keeping it inside. Maybe someday.
"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." --William Arthur Ward
