Three Down...
The Physiotherapy UK 2012 conference was in Liverpool this weekend. As I'm now in New York, I couldn't make it to defend the poster of my research, but I left that task in the capable hands of my second author. Unfortunately, she had some serious family issues arise that demanded her attention back in Leeds. The third author was already home with a broken ankle.
Would this mean that the poster would be removed when nobody was there to defend it on Saturday? Would nobody wind up seeing my first piece of research after all? As they say in northern England, I was "gutted" at that prospect.
Thank goodness another physio from our unit was going to the conference. Although she wasn't an author on the research, she is familiar enough with the content to answer questions about it. I've been told that people "were amazed with our results" and "couldn't wait" to see the results from our ongoing study. I'd call that a fairly good outcome! I think I owe her a pint (or more) when I return to the UK for Thanksgiving!
On funny note, my current boss thinks this article in the New York Times was written about me. To which I responded, "Quite."
