Want Some New Dansko Shoes?

Published 01 October 10 12:39 PM
Enter our contest on Facebook and you could win one of three top prizes.

I'm tough on shoes. One pair, the most comfortable brown flats ever, feature a sole peeling off, but I can't toss them out because they're so soft and worn in just right. Numerous attempts to glue these shoes failed, and when I wear them, the sole flaps open. Another pair of brown shoes has a crack in one heel, and when I walk, each shoe makes a different noise. A pair of strappy black sandals has the same issue, but I like the shoes too much to ditch them over the sounds they make. My sneakers - except, sadly, my running shoes - all look like they've been hit by a car, and I spilled a spot of bleach on my favorite pair of just a few weeks after I got them.

In a way, the worn-out shoes have some sentimental value, but if I could get similar shoes to replace them I definitely would. Lately the budget's not allowing much shoe shopping, though, so I'll stick with what I've got.

Healthcare professionals often run their shoes into the ground. While my days are spent typing away behind a desk, they're up and running around for many hours. A comfortable and quality pair of nursing shoes or work shoes is a very valuable thing around healthcare facilities, and once you find one you love, it might be hard to give it up, even if it isn't, well, looking its best.

Enter the Pics for Kicks Contest Sponsored by Dansko. We teamed up with that awesome company that produces shoes our customers rave about. The contest, hosted on the ADVANCE Healthcare Shop page on Facebook, asks fans to submit a photo of worn-out shoes. Fans can vote on the photos they like best, and at the end, on Oct. 22, we'll award three winners their choice of shiny new Dansko shoes. Not a bad deal, right? One measly little picture could score you a brand new pair of top-quality work shoes you choose from the Dansko website. In addition, just by entering a picture into the contest, you'll get 10 percent off of our entire selection of shoes, excluding clearance, from now through Oct. 31. With the abundance of cell phone cameras and the ease of uploading, it's easy to enter and if you get friends involved in the voting, you could be a shoe in (pardon me, I apologize for that) to score a new pair of Dansko shoes.

Want the details? Go to our page on Facebook, and if you're already a fan, click on the "Contest" tab. If you're not already a fan, you'll be automatically directed to the page with the contest on it. Have your picture ready and follow the simple instructions and you're good to go.

Good luck! I hope to see a ton of photos for the contest. The prize is definitely sweet, so if your shoes are looking worse for the wear, why not give it a shot?

About Lynn Jusinski

After an internship at a home magazine where she wrote about media rooms and $500,000 pool renovations from the comfort of a teeny, cluttered dorm room, Lynn Jusinski graduated from a small college in Pennsylvania and then moved on to write for two weekly newspapers in suburban Philadelphia. A column she penned for the papers won an award from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association. In 2007, Lynn moved back to the magazine world, and worked full-time as an associate editor for ADVANCE for Health Information Professionals. Her work on the magazine led to “Rookie of the Year” honors and a second place feature award in the annual Editorial Excellence Awards presented by Merion Publications Inc. In her free time, Lynn is typically stuck in traffic, shopping, reading, constructing poorly made crafts and hanging out in and around her hometown.
