Bulletin Board Update!

Published March 5, 2012 9:45 AM by Alexandra Streeter

I'm happy to see that I now have 10 responses to my "Ideas Needed: Bulletin Board!" post. Some of you are so creative!

Teresa shared this idea:

She covered the board with flannel and attached the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to it. I would love to have this in a self-contained or preschool classroom and make it easily accessible to the kids.

I really liked the idea that Latisha, Tiffany and Mary shared (see below). Over the holidays they affixed these "presents" to a hallway bulletin board. When teachers "opened" the presents, they learned something new about communication.

In the comments section, Melanie mentioned her creation, called "Nymville," whose streets are named "Antonym Court," "Synonym Street" and "Homonym Drive." Meanwhile, Christie talked about having her students move cars around a race track as they go from producing sounds in isolation, to words, to sentences, etc. I love all of these ideas.

My board? Well, it has three items on it now! The DIBELS Benchmarks (lest I forget as I write my IEPs), and two student-drawn pictures that illustrate some words that have multiple meanings!
