Mammography Matters

About Mammography Matters

If you work in a high-volume facility with many other mammographers, or even if you alone make up the entire mammography department, it is a constant challenge to keep up with ever-changing technology, as well as meeting the personal needs of patients.  I hope this blog will be a source of information as well as support for all those who choose mammography not only as a career, but as a dedicated commitment to our patient's needs.

About Wanda Francisco

I have worked as a mammographer for about 18 years in a high-volume department. Although my initial interest was merely to get on the day shift, I soon realized that mammography was my passion. I love the constant interaction with patients and the cutting-edge technology that now allows us to offer our patients many options that did not exist just a short while ago. I set up the Digital Quality Control Program for three of our satellite facilities, and I monitor all of their quality control on an ongoing basis. I am assistant supervisor in the main hospital and have various duties there as well.

When I am not working, my two teenage children sure seem to keep my husband and me going with their different activities. I am an avid reader and also enjoy traveling with my family. My mother and sister, who are both healthcare workers, inspired me at a young age to pursue a career in radiology. I am also a perpetual student and enjoy taking a variety of classes to keep my brain cells working!
