Get Organized

Published February 27, 2009 9:01 AM by June Ammirati
Yesterday I completed the four oral comps that correspond to the exams I performed last week. I hadn't done a comp since last October and was a little rusty for both parts, but I quickly got back into the swing of things.

One thing I would strongly recommend for any current or future students is to keep the notes you have very organized. Separate them by body part or system. For example, make a file for upper extremities, lower extremities, skull, GI system, etc. When it comes time to find these notes and review them, you won't be searching high and low through stacks of papers to locate what you need.

If I piled all of my papers together I would probably have a stack reaching 2 feet high. There is a reason that our teachers, since elementary school, have emphasized organization and even graded us on our notebooks.

I had to do an x ray on a patients navel last Friday. The problem was the patient was unconscious and was really heavy to move. The picture of his navel came out great though.
