Learning How to Teach
This past week I had the pleasure of working with a great student. She was so eager to learn and not afraid to try anything. What a treat!
Many veteran technologists don't want to deal with students but they forget the students are paying to be there. Ultimately, it is our responsibility to share our knowledge with them. We all remember the techs who took the time out to show us the ropes. To this day, I never forgot who was nice to me as a student and who wasn't. It made all the difference at a time when everything was new and unfamiliar.
In our busy ER, an extra set of hands made a huge difference this past week. She helped increase our productivity and also made me even more enthusiastic about my job. She was so appreciative for all that she learned. It felt great to see how excited she was to scan and begin to understand what she was doing.
So many of my co-workers have been so patient with me as I learned CT and it feels incredibly satisfying to pay it forward.
