Always Open
As much as I miss my former colleagues and my job, I don't miss working on holidays. I was scheduled to work on Christmas from 7a-7p. I usually signed up to work this holiday so my co-workers with children could have it off. Although most stores and businesses close early today, hospitals are always open. Don't take for granted that whatever emergencies arise during this holiday season there will always be hardworking folks in an ER waiting to help. Compassionate nurses and skilled X-ray and CT technologists are dedicated to make sure people get the best treatment.
Last Christmas someone in my family suffered a broken nose playing a family game of football. His father quickly whisked him off to the ER where he of course had an X-ray. What we do plays such an important part in the diagnostic process.
If you are working Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, please know that you are greatly appreciated. The time we spend away from our family makes it possible for us to care for others.
