    Cross-Trained in MRI/ CT

How can I get cross-trained without having to go through a hospital?  I have researched this and it appears the only way is if someone in a diagnostic clinic or hospital will train you.  What is the best way to handle this to move forward?

In Winston-Salem North carolina we have a community collage, (Forsyth Tech) that has an MRI / CT program. I have met some of the students going through the program. They like it and get a good well rounded education.

    Carol,

I am doing just that, training on the job in MRI at a hospital.  I caught a lucky break, my radiography school offered a 6-week extension/internship in the modality of my choice and I chose MRI.  My mentor then went on to hire me per diem.  This is rare these days, as jobs are not so readily available.  I am a per diem employee, which places me under the protection of the hopital's liability policy.  Unless you are a student of a school that has an agreement with the clinical site where you train, or are an employee, you are not covered by any liability insurance to just come in and log clinical hours training.  Where I live, there are community colleges that offer MRI training, and sometimes you have to find your own site that will agree to take you on to do your clinicals, and hospitals are the way to go because you see more complex studies in that type of setting.  Good luck Carol, determination is the key to getting your foot in the door.

Just a FIY , There will be some tech friendly CT cdr's to purchase in the near future. The first will be cross-sectional for ct. It will be a tech geared cdr with image slides and and test questions. Very registry based. A web site will follow soon.. Hope this helps

Where do you live?  Or can you give me some names of the colleges that offer the program?

Also I am interested in moving to PA.  What are the salaries for x-ray, mammo?  Or at least a good starting point?  Any info you have is helpful.  Thanks.
