    Hand-foot-mouth virus in adults?

    Hello,

Exactly how common is hand-foot-mouth (coxsackie) in adults? I'm pretty sure I've had this twice, the second time occurring this past weekend.  From Thursday-Saturday, I had the fever, fatigue and sore throat. On Sunday, I got the blisters on my hands and some of my toes. My 2-year-old son had no symptoms except extreme fussiness.

I've read it's uncommon in adults because most have been exposed to it in childhood and have an immunity to it. So, why would I get it twice?
