    Opinion Please

We run HPV by PCR. We do it in an agarose gel. We have a Pos internal control that is the globin , a Pos HPV control, an Extraction Control (which is process along with the sample and should be Neg) and a   Neg control (like a blank).

When the HPV is Pos we see 2 bands, one for HPV one for the Globin.

When HPV is neg we see 1 band... only Globin.

Now... Here is my dilemma... When the Extraction Control is Positive for the Globin only we were told that we can still process the positive samples and we need to repcr the negatives.

I think that if the control is Pos for Globin ALL samples should be re-extracted. We use one Extraction control per extraction batch.

I need other people opinion please to see if I am being too restrictive.

     Thanks
