This child known to me has autism, is non verbal and has upto 15 seizures in the day varying between them to a large extent. Her medications, fatigue as a result and extreme mood swings has reduced her mobility to quite an extent. I had prescribed an attendant propelled wheelchair to be used primarily for outdoors / transit. Now she uses the w/c to a large extent outdoors, but is still mobile indoors. However, 6 months ago she could manage to go up stairs once a day. Now she does so with great difficulty. The child is asthmatic too. So most activities are carried out on the ground floor. The toilet downstairs needs to adapted for the child. Her right side seems to be going limp/ showing reduced motor control after a seizure and quite frequently in the day.Her neurologist is more focussed on the seizures ( quite naturally) than the leg.I ofcourse think the two are interlinked. Possibly some lesion in the left hemipshere too yet undetected because the chikd could just not be anaesthetised. Mother would like a bath rather than the shower cubicle as she is unable to sit. I would be concerned it is not that safe as she is epileptic too. What advice would someone with more experience in this give me? I am new to this equipment side of things. Are there other things i should be doing too?
