Do you plan on pursuing the sleep credential?

    Re: Credential

I passed the RPSGT in March '08.  The material itself was not difficult at all.  The main frustration that most people face (especially if you're coming from an RT background) is that there is no tried and true, one-stop-shopping resource--i.e. Kettering--that you can review from.  My test covered everything from scoring and pharmacology to sleep lab data management (meaning archiving, etc). Talk to the most recent RPSGTs at your lab, if any of them are members or are somehow active in the BRPT then you'd want to become fast friends with them for sure. If you haven't signed up for the June test then you may as well ignore this because the test will be tweaked after 7/08.  To what degree I cannot say save for I know the new scoring rules will be applied.  Know your scoring, know pharmacology, know cardiac rhythms--if you've taken ACLS then these will be cake--know your calculations such as sleep latencies, AHI, PLM index, etc.  Starting in July you'll have to take the 14 A-step modules regardless of whether you are "6-month" or "18-month" candidate.  These will actually be helpful in terms of review but will brutal on your wallet; they'll cost up to 40 bucks a piece depending on how you're establishing your test eligibility.  All the details are at the BRPT website.  http://www.brpt.org
