Hello, my name is Suzanne, and I am an LPN. I have been an LPN since 1985. Started out in Albany, NY and now in Iowa (for the past 17 years). I have done all sorts of nursing jobs from long-term nursing - skilled to assisted living, worked home care- children to adult, hospital acute care, Polk Co.Jail even but now for the past 101/2 years have been in out patient care setting for a county hospital. I love my job!!! I currently work with the new residents for Family Practice. I don't think a day has gone by where I have not learned something. My hospital is finely coming around when it comes to LPN's. We now can take the IV -expanded role (17 week course), I am the first one to get a "supervising" role. I can not delegate to the Clinic RN but to the CMA's. LPN's in Iowa follow the same board as RN's. We have 36 continuing Education hours for 3 years to renew our lisensure. I guess what I am wondering is any one else doing this kind of stuff? Clinic work... working with CMA's... hourly rate of pay...good or bad?
Hope to hear from the masses,
Suzanne
