    New Grad: Finding employment

Just graduated in Feb and having trouble getting employment as LPN.  Looking for work in nursing home/hospital not in doctor's office.  Have been working as Certified Med. Assist for 15 years in doctors office's and do not want to work in that scene any longer... Want expericence in what I was trained to do.

It seems no one wants to hire me for lack of experience.  Any suggestions as to how to get my foot in the door would be helpful.  Also am going back to school in the spring 09 so want to work on weekends, per diem something like that.

    Thanks for reading     Elana

    Re: New Grad: Finding employment

I graduated in Feb too, and found it hard to find employment in anything else but a LTC facility.  That is not my field of choice.  I worked various jobs in the hospital setting and wanted to return to the hospital with my new degree and training, but LPN's are not wanted.

Even when doing clinicals at said hospital, the nursing staff was crying for help.  This is something I just don't understand.

I ended up at a Transitional Care Unit at a local hospital. It's somewhere in the middle of what I want.   But I keep looking, as should you.

    Good luck.....
