Have any one did this kind of service before and if so was it or is it a good idea .  Im a new L.P.N and want to become an R.N so if any one has any info please let me know thanks to all my fellow L.P.N'S.

IM CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN THE EXCELSIOR PROGRAM AND I AM VERY PLEASED!  I HAVE COMPLETED 5 OUT OF 7 TEST AND ONLY HAD TO REPEAT 1 BECAUSE I GOT A 'D'  I THINK THE ADVISORS AT THE COLLEGE ARE DEDICATED AND REALLY WANT TO SEE YOU SUCCEED. I ALSO HAVE A COUPLE OF CORE CLASSES TO TAKE AND PLAN TO GRADUATE SEPT 08. BEFORE YOU BUY ANY STUDY GUIDES CHECK EBAY THEIR ALOT CHEAPER. I RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM FOR THE FIERCE WHO REALLY WANT IT AND ARE NOT AFRAID OF A LITTLE HARD WORK. AFTER WHAT NURSING PROGRAM IS EASY? LET ME FIND OUT!

I had experience with RUE. Once you sign their contract there is NO WAY to cancel. I canceled within the typical mandated time ( 3 business days) and they still are charging me, well now it shows up as a charge off on my credit report with no way to get it off. Excelsior told me not to go through them, that is why I canceled.

I am with Rue Now please tell me any thing that I should know i heard from some one that went there that is good. Is this wrong please help!

I have previously enrolled at The College Network, deciding to become an RN.  I do hope that I have made a good choice.  Anyone with feedback, feel free to do so. I think I'll need all the encourgement I can get.

I am presently enrolled with Excelsior College.  I only have 3 classes left, College Writing, English Lit., Foundations of Gerontology.

If I knew now what I didn't know then, I would have saved myself a ton of money!!

All the programs such as RUE and Chancellors and College Network are all just study guides.  They basically condense all the study material into one book and you study it. Well, for about $250-$350, you can save this by just getting the course guide for each course needed at Excelsior, look in the back and see which books are recommended to study for that particular course.  And then, go to Amazon.com and look for the particular books and buy them USED!!!

I bought the full program for Chancellors to the tune of $2400, I did use them, but as I went along, I got smarter.  There were a couple of classes I changed and did just as I stated and went to Amazon and also Ebay to buy the recommended books at a huge fraction of the cost of new books.  Then, you can turn around and re-sell them!!  I did re-sell all the guides I had bought from Chancellors, so I did make some money back!

I would recommend the Excelsior Program to anyone looking to advance their career!  I will re-up when I get ny ADRN and continue on for my BSN.  I am 44 years old and have been an LPN for 21 years and am looking forward to getting into more of a leadership aspect of nursing if not into education.

I have thought about going this route but am afraid to since many states will not let you practice as an RN if you receive your degree from Excelsior.  I would like to do Excelsior because I do great studying on my own and cannot stand sitting through another theory class.  I'm currently contemplating Excelsior and a few Community Colleges in my area that offer online LPN-RN routes.  My main thing is I want to travel/move once an RN and am afraid I may limit myself if I choose Excelsior.

 Any thoughts?
 

Keep checking about whether your state accepts Excelsior degrees. This has gone back and forth. The issue was that Excelsior was accepting students with inadequate clinical experience such as nursing aides. They no longer do this so BON's are reconsidering. Also some states won't let you take their Boards as an Excelsior grad but will accept your license in reciprocity once you are licensed in another state. I know several people who are Excelsior gradspracticing as RN's. Also the previous posts were correct, the programs like Rue and College Network make you pay for material that the college will give you for free or direct you to for far less $$.

I recommend the program for strong nurses. It is not easy but can be done. I only have

have English, Bioethics, Spanish and Foundations of Gerontology left.  You have to really

buckle down and study!

 Hey Candice, I am needing a little reaaurance on this program with excelsior nursing, I am wanting to enroll, but im so scared becuase i dont have any money to throw away, yet I hvebeen in a classroom nrsing program, and i didnt succeed, only becuase i major test anxiety, and its so hard for me to focus, i was surronde dby unprofessional students, and the teacher really didint teach to me, basically she shuold have said , go home and fread the entire book, when teat time comes, it takes so long to prep, with the answer sheets, and all, i loose all thought and concentration. The tests arte nothn like what I studyed hours and hours for at all.  I only havr to complete 2 general ed courses, and that infromation literacy course, and the tests. but are the tests clearly what is being studyed . I have some modules from college network. And my biggest thing is the clinical portion, oh my god, it costs so much, and you have to schdeule 6-8 months out. If i go through with this, being an LPN already, is this the way to go. I want to enroll in september of this year.  do you feel that this program is better. and if any advice for the tests, and any for the clinical portion, you could give , god knows I would appreciate it.
