I've been a PT Assistant for 14 years, have a BS in Accounting and soon to have a Nursing Degree. I'm very concerned about the idea of a blanket universal health care and want to keep the same programs and improve those already in place...which has never happened. I'm concerned as a practitioner, as a son, as a citizen of this country. I've researched it and realize that Government run health care or even a "Public Option" (which will only lead to a blanket plan) has many undesirable problems and really doesn't give people "effective" access to health care. I am asking people to mail into their senators and congressmen regarding this. I have typed up a letter for you to print, sign, and mail in to them. Then Say "NO" to:

1) Competing Government Health Care or Public Option !

2)  Socialized Medicine!

And Say "YES" to:

1)  Medical Tort Reform to stop frivolous lawsuits and maintain our current system!!!

2) Requiring co-pays on all lawsuit patients to reduce the waste & return honesty to the system!!

3)  Implement Hospital Pricing Transparency to create competition and reduce costs!

4) Implement programs nationwide to promote health, reduce our Obesity rate (The highest in the world)!!

5) Give Tax Credits to those that purchase insurance as incentive to purchase it!!!

Obesity has skyrocketed in this country and its killing us both physically and financially. Japan has one of the best health results while spending the least. They have one of the highest percentage of daily smokers and one of the lowest percentages of obesity! We are costing ourselves from eating fatty food and not exercising! We must reduce this first before we waste $trillions on our system. Its not our medical system but our society weight that is the big problem!

     We already have Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid! lets work within the programs we already have and make some reform there!!!

I am sorry to disappoint you but I've been in the medical field longer than you.In retrospect, the late ex-president Regan cut on medicare and medicaid programs 'cause of the waste of the medical system and it was to build more weaponsagainst the ex-soviet Union.He also won against jimmi carter blaiming him for a large deficit but later we found out that reagan nor Sr Bush did anything about it and then the reps stop Hilary clinton from passing a health care system for all Americans and as always reps side with corporate for our health care and that's why peole are paying for "expensive" health care with little coverage or more payments where ceos have higher salaries while Americans are deing! I remember since reagan the reps keep cuttintg on medicare and specially on people that went to WWII and just plain simple elderly people whose generation brought us this far!I have seen a lots of people deing with the current system that didn't have to dei.But the media is with corporate and people don't know what's really happening in the hospitals.some are being run with skeleton crews in the land of plenty!The media is not telling the people the truth like they used to over 14 years ago! With Clinto we had a 5 trillion surplus with the same problems reps have had but people are listening to a biased media. i have been a patinet and was not treated right.Right now I have no health insurance and is too expensive on my own-in the land of plenty. i've seen the bills as a patient and as a therapist and is just plain too expensive and it doesn't have to be that way.I don't mind paying for it but is too expensive.It should be a crime! I say, The U.S. The most powerfull Nation in the world; It gets checks and balances but the "arrogant capitalist" don't.In the land of common sence this doesn't make any sence!
