    Cognitive assessments for acute care

We are looking for a cognitive assessment for our acute care setting other then the Kels. We have looked at many and are looking for something function based and on the shorter side.

I also use the Kohlman, but my first assessment is normally the Allen's Cognitive Levels assessment (just the leather lacing portion).  If an individual scores below the 5.0 which is the cut off for any sort of independent living, that's when I'll do at least the safety and health portions of the KELs.  My main concern is whether or not they will be safe in going home.
