    Discrimination Against NP's

Anyone ever had a physician refuse to take report on a patient from you because you are a NP and not a physician?

    Re: Discrimination Against NP's

In short, yes.  I work in an ER where the physicians have apparently had some negative experiences with NP's in the past.  Our policy now is that physicians, not NP's call hospitalists and other physicians to consult or admit patients to the hospital.  One way we get around this is by still having NP's speak with physicians who we know do not have this bias  On a positive note, I know that this is not true at all hospitals and I do fin that most physicians respect NP's.  It seems there are just a select few who do not.
