    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

It takes 5 semesters including a summer..., so two years.  Two classes (6 hours) each semester.

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

Well, you need a total of 1000 hours, I already have 800+ in my masters so I only have 150 or so left.  I won't do my clinicals until next year.  If you have any more questions, email me, the programs is great so far!

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

I am a currently a DNP student at University of CO, Colorado Springs, Beth El SON. I am in the very first class of DNP students for this program. It is entirely online. I am a graduate of the FNP program from this school and it has an outstanding SON. http://www.uccs.edu/~bethel/dnp.htm

    Good luck

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

I'm enrolling in the DNP program next year at George Washington University. I am currently a student in their FNP distance ed program. George Washington University's master's program has been exceptional! I'm currently locked in at $585.00 per credit hour. Students who enter the DNP Program at the post-master's level are required to complete 36 semester hours of doctoral work. Students who enter the program at the post-bachelor's level must complete the credit requirements for their concentration (ANP, FNP, or NLM) before continuing with the doctoral course work. Since the university is "federal" there are no out of state tuition fees. You must attend campus sessions one week each summer. This year, students staying in a dorm room pay $35.00/night.

    Curriculum:

I'm not a recruiter nor do I work for the university. I'm a student that has researched many programs and have decided this is the best deal available for a highly respected school and faculty.

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

    Hi TD,

Thanks for the added info. I have two practicing NP's in my program. One was practicing in an Alaska Native village in Alaska when she started the program. She is now in the Bay area of California.  Our other NP works full time (3 --12's) in the ER. they both fly in for two or three days and then fly right back home for work. The class is online except for "intensives" the first trimester has two, one at the beginning for orientation (student ID photos, etc.,), to the software, to meet fellow students and one at the end to give oral presentations.  After that only one "fly-in" event near the end of each trimester until you are completed. There are options to take one class at a time, two at a time, or full time --three classes at a time. I am currently full time, and have not been able to work full time (agency one or two days a month only). The courses run year round.

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

I will like to know more about your program. I am currently seeking an online program which will allow me like to still work and be a mom. Can you tell me where your school is, the tuition and some contacts at the school who can give me more information about the DNP program.

    Thanks

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

    HI TD:

I understand you not wanting to travel.  I am from Fort Worth, (location of TCU) and have both BS Elem Ed and BSN from TCU.  I am currently living in Dominica, West Indies and applied to the program before I left Texas in Jan.  I did check web sites for totally online programs after I had applied because I wanted to have a back up plan. I did not find another one that was like TCU.  I will be here for the next year, and am unable to work on the island so good time to get started on DNP.  My interview was via telephone and it is my understanding that only one visit to TCU is required for orientation and that can waived under certain circumstances. I know that the above sounds bias toward TCU, but during both of my undergrad programs TCU was willing to work with students.  My masters is not from TCU because they do not have an NP program.  I will warn you the school is private so it is expensive. Hope that helps and maybe we will be class mates. Oh during my interview I asked if we needed to all be online at the same time for classes and was told that for majority of classes that was not necessary, so working around your schedule should not be a problem. Call them if you have questions they have been great about returning my calls.

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

    Hi:

Does anyone know any Nurses who have attended Chatham University in Pennsylvania. I am considering applying there for this fall or spring?

I know most of the program is online. I wonder how well online learning works especially when completing the capstone project?

    Hi Rhonda;

How high is the tuition at TCU? I looked at the website but the site did not specify it was online. Who is the director of the DNP program?

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

    Hi

I would like to know for those who are enrolled in an "DNP" program whether or not there is additional coursework in pharmacology, physiology, pathophysiology, etc. Most of the programs I have looked out say they are clinically focused but the curriculum is centered around leadership, economics, etc. and there is not a clear explanantion of what a capstone project entails or a residency. I would appreciate any input. Thanks

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

    Hi Laticia:

Most of the DNP programs I have looked at do focus on leadership, research, and health policy. The University of South Florida has a DNP program that focuses on clinical practice. They require students to take pharmacology, physiology, pathophysiology, and several other interesting  courses. You should check it out.

    Re: ONLINE DNP PROGRAMS

Hi, I have just recently called Chatham University for their fall program and it's full. I asked to be placed on the waiting list but that is also long. Next enrollment will be for the spring semester. Looked like a good program.
