I  live in Tx. and we are required to have 20 ceu's every two years to renew our licenses. I think this is a way to keep informed of new changes and also to increase your knowledge of areas in which you may not usually work. I enjoy being able to take my time and read articles to increase my knowledge.                                                 S. Shepard

You do have to have 30 ceu's to renew your LPN license in PA. now. Good sources forthem are the advanceweb/lpn site and also nursing journals which carry 1-2  articles per issue with varying contact hours. I do think it is a very good idea to require ceus to retain our licenses as it keeps us reading and learning and may help to advance our profession.

In Iowa we follow the same CEU required for the RN's. That is 36 every three years. They can be almost anything health/nursing related but we also have mandated ones., like age appropriate care. We also recertify on-line, they really make it pretty easy for us.

    Hope that helps,

    Suzanne

Yes, I am a nurse in Alabama and we have to have 24 CEU's completed before our nursing license renewal. We have to renew our licenses every two years (odd).

I think having to do CEU's is a VERY good thing, however, I am a procrastinator and ALWAYS have to hustle in order to get mine before the deadline. I LOVE nursing and I LOVE learning new things. The medical world is ALWAYS changing, and progressing so this helps to keep up with the everchanging medical world.

I contract as an Occupational Health Nurse with WCMS which is located in the state of Indiana and was shocked to find out that nurses there do not have to have CEU's in order to renew their licenses.

I would love to know what other the states requirements are as well.

     Thanks

    Re: ceu

    Hello,

I am in Pennsylvania and althought our state does not require us to have CEU, I would like to do some. Do you know where I can get some information on where to get them. I like to keep up with the changes that are happening out there.  thanks
