    Re: School Nurse

Here in Florida mostly Rn's are used but in my county LPN's exclusively are used. We have a Rn coordinator but we run the clinics. I have been doing this for almost 5 years and love it so much I have decided to return to school for a transition program.  I would like to become a coordinator.  FSHA offers a school nurse certification but you have to be a RN.  We are hired by the state health dept. but in some counties the school board hires them.  However, the ones hired by the schools have lost their jobs due to the economical crunch. We do everything in the clinics and multitasking is a must.  The average school clinic in this county sees 60+ students per day for a variety of complaints.  Lots of paperwork!!!
