Hi Nancy,

I think this is a good forum for all us students to come and discuss the challenges we are going to face with trying to find jobs in the healthcare organization. It looks like its going to be tough for us to get someone to "throw us a bone" because it seems no one wants to have anything to do with students and people like us who don't have any experience (as we can see by the lack of posts here). The best advice I can give for all us students is...Don't give up!! We will make it one way or another. Some other advice would be for us to use the resources on this site to find jobs they have some pretty good information here.

Job Outlook for the New Coder

Okay, so from what I can tell from many of the previous posts is that we need an EXPERIENCED, CURRENTLY employed coder to monitor this site and offer advice!! We are all asking the same thing.....how do we break into coding when all the posted jobs require previous medical office experience. Anyone out there who knows a coder, have them check this out and throw us a BONE!!! please.

I mean, i keep reading all the government projections for increased need for qualified coders, but if every one wants experience first, then how does that happen. What about some of the clearing house companies, dont they need beginners that they can train. Probably dont pay as well as a hospital or offer benefits, but right now I just want experience. Gonna be hard to keep all these guidelines in my head, if I dont keep using them on a daily basis.

Hope to hear some good advice soon.
