Intranet only. There was a big to do about it when we started but I'm hearing from others in the organization that they never look at it anyway. No virtual tour, just basic information and updates but my impression is that everyone is so busy they have little time to browse the Intranet unless they need to look up something important, such as a hospital document that is available online, a department phone number or to look at the physician directory when they need to pick a doctor for themselves. Looking at lab offerings seems to be a low priority and doesn't command much attention.

Our department has an online test guide that people can access. It also includes brief information about who is in charge of the respective labs and the testing we do but I believe it is very bare bones. It can always be improved to provide more information for our clinicians. I would love for our lab to have our procedures online in our intranet. How many times have I gone around looking for them? I remember searching the web once and came across a Canadian website and it had their lab procedures online. I was envious at the quality of it. No one seems to be interested in engaging a project like this in my lab. Well, the powers that be anyway.

I hope you get some responses to this! I would love to see it. We are working with our IT dept to add things to our "intranet" but have not had time to work on anything yet. The main website we have has just a little information and it is all very general.

Does anyone have a well-designed Clinical Laboratory section on their organization's website that they are particularly proud of? I am interested in seeing what other labs have done to reach out to patients/the community via the web. The standard "about us" seems to vary in quality and quantity of information from lab to lab. Does anyone have a "virtual tour"of their lab on a website or anything else of special interest?
