I too am an experienced cota, and at first thought the new younger grads with the bigger degrees and more ed would be a issue for them working with me, but we have a nice balace of experience and new techniques. You could always go to seminars to help with cont ed.

Re: Experience vs new grads in this changing economy

I agree with Eric...time to move on.

Re: Experience vs new grads in this changing economy

Move to Texas and work for my pediatric facilities.
I was wondering if anyone had some good advice for an experienced COTA who works at a pediatric facility. My boss has been hiring more new graduates as opposed to experienced therapists to save money. Being in the field for almost 10 years, I would love the opportunities to work with some more experienced ones. Although fresh blood is a good thing, the age and maturity and experience issues are a concern to me at this point in my career. Any Ideas of ways to do so and expand my skills at this point in my career?

Thanks!
