Since many Med Techs swear that if they knew what they know now back when they were in school..  they would have chosen a different career path.. (for a variety of reasons..)

 

What would be that (dream job) be - other working in the laboratory?

I am a MT(ASCP) technical supervisor. My wife is a staff nurse at the same hospital. Her base pay is $8/hr. more than mine. She works 0.6 FTE, I am full time. Her check is equal to mine most pay periods although I carry the benefits, (health and dental insurance) so those are deducted from my check.

And there are so many opportunities for male nurses. . .

Not sure if it would be a dream or not, but I wish I had gone Pharmacy or Rad Tech instead of lab...

Same here I would have gone to pharmacy school or really pursue medical school...

That's easy.  I would have attended Brewmaster school after college.  As a brewmaster, I'd be making at least double what my B.S M.T. degree got me, would have many foreign travel opportunities, would be fought over (if I was good), and there's a lot to be said for being able to drink good beer at work.

If I had been smart enough in math, I would have chosen pharmacy considering the pay. If I were to do something I love to do aside from the pay, I would have become a medical or science writer or possibly a research biologist.

I think Biotech engineering would have been fun, or a completely different field would be Law. Specializing in medical Law would be interesting after knowing what goes on and how things really work in hospitals.
