    A Seller's Market

Did you attain a better position in the laboratory after working for a less-than-desirable employer? Write and give some constructive tips for attaining a better position (without bashing your previous employer).

Well, I did attain a better position, but I did not have to leave the hospital, I had to leave the shift.  I really feel I learned a lot from working in a "bad" situation.  I learned a lot about conflict resolution, tolerance, perception and communication.  These are skills that everyone needs, regardless of their position.  I feel that even bad situations happen for a reason, either to help us to redefine our own strengths and limits, or simply to teach us how to react or better yet, how not to react in certain situations.  These skills are a big reason why I was hired into a higher position on a different shift. So for any of you currently in a bad situation, try to take with you only the good things and don't hold on to the bad, because in the end it does nothing but weigh you down.  Of course it is much easier for me to say this now that I am out of that situation, you may have gotten a different answer 2 years ago. Hope this helps.

I am hoping that with a little more work and persereverence, I can get out of this field and start working on a different career with numerous different benefits.

If I stay working in this field, at my present employer (or this local market), I will be eternally working night shift - to which I despise.

I wish I had followed my other skills and likes back when going into college, I think that I would have landed a much better job with better options and hours.
