I am a COTA/L in my local school district in Illinois. I am also the Fieldwork coordinator for out local OTA program & consistently have an OTA student during the Spring semester. Most students request putting me as a reference on their first resume. In most cases I allow them to do so. On occasion I have a student that does not do well for various reasons. I am fairly comfortable letting the student know that I would prefer not to be used but how do I handle questions from the HR department if I am used without my permission. For example, what if I have a student who is excellent on treatment planning, carrying treat out etc but is weak in professional behavior skills? What am I allowed to tell the HR person?
