    Cardiology NP

I am a new cardiology NP, trained as an ANP, employed by a hospital to work with Cardiac Cath lab patients.  I have over 8 years experience in ICU with most of that being with cardiac/open heart patients.  This is a new role for the hospital.  We currently also have a cardiothoracic NP who works exclusively with open heart patients.  I'm curious how other hospitals/NP's have structured this role.  I work with over a dozen interventionalists, electrophysiologists, etc.  I was hired predominantly to assist with post procedure management but I'm also doing a lot of process improvement/staff education functions.  I have some freedom to define the role and I would prefer to focus on direct patient care.  The difficulty is that all physicians do things differently.  They have their own preference of meds, etc.  Are there any other NP's working in this type of a role and how have you structured it?
