    Cardiac Rehabilitation and Client-Centered care

I currently assist with a Phase 2 cardiac rehabilitation program where I work as a rehabilitation aide with a background in athletic training and am currently pursuing my Master's degrees in Occupational Therapy.  Through my work in the cardiac rehabilitation setting, the client intervention is purely following the medical model.  I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions that I can utilize to help the program become more client-centered and engaging for the individual's who participate in this program.  Having been through some sort of cardiac issue, the client's are typically very anxious to participate in the program and generally do not find the program engaging.  I would like to change this, but really am unsure of how this can be accomplished while still achieving their conditioning goals in this setting.
