Hello!!

I am completing my Medical Coding Course this week with Kaplan University and am very anxious to take my certification exam as well as to enter the field of Medical Coding as a professional coder.  I am anxious to attend any of the job fairs in my area.  I live in Elyria, OH about 25 miles east of Cleveland and will be looking for employment in that area.  If anyone has any info on upcoming job fairs/employment in that areas, please let me know.

How has your experience been so far with your college courses in this field? What have you found to be most useful?

Hi Katherine.  Congrats on your new degree.  I'm just in my second semester at Bryant and Stratton College majoring in Medical Billing and Coding so I don't have any advice for you.  How did you like your classes?  Do you think it was very difficult?  Any tips you can give me?

I have completed my first year of courses for medical coding and billing at Metropolitan Community College and have one more year to go. I'm concerned about finding a job upon graduation and successfully passing the exam. Is Kaplan University assisting you in your job search and did you have to complete an internship?

I am not looking to do much of the billing and coding side but I am trying to get a degree in Mendical Transcription.  I must have knowledge of how to key and understand medical codes to transcribe medical notes.  I know that there are many job opportunities and I'm certain you will find what you are looking for.  Good luck on your certification exam, we will all have to take one eventually.  I am not quite into the actually billing and coding part yet but from what I have gathered from other people, no one has anything positive to say about it.  Is it really that difficult?

Hi, Katherine.  I am in school right now for Medical Billing and Coding at Metropolitan Community College online.  They are located in Nebraska and I am concerned about finding a job in Louisiana once I have finished school.  I was hoping to find a job working from home since I am the primary caregiver for my disabled husband.  This is only my second quarter for my degree program, but I am sure that I can do well with it.  My concern as I said before is finding a job after I complete it.  I know there is a demand for it, however so many jobs that I have found on job search sites require experience.  How can a person get experience if no one is willing to hire them fresh out of college?  Any thoughts?
