I know the feeling Pam. When my son was 2 1/2 in the middle of the night I heard the wheezing and barking. Being a nurse for 20 years I never thought of croup (does that happen in geriatrics?) :) I felt so stupid once I got to the ER and was informed that I could have taken him outside. It's funny how I can tell my husband what his problem is, ...

Sandra I agree with you. I live in southern NJ and had recently worked for a LTC facility. I was the ONLY white nurse on day. All other nurses were fillipino. I was made to feel VERY uncomfortable. As far as the language, yes I agree. I had witnessed first hand that they would talk about other co-workers because it was very blatant. I had a ...

Yes she did have check ups but I refused the shots. At one point her pediatrician had basically threatened me by stating "by not giving ...

Congrats, and welcome to the wonderful world of nursing. Try looking into long term care for employment. Many hospitals tend to shy away from hiring LPN's
Good luck and again congrats

I live in NJ (the southern part). Medication aides are used alot in assisted living facilities here with one RN ''on call'' in case there is a problem. I worked at one assisted living facilty, I had to laugh when one med aide had told me ''your giving the insulin injection wrong'' HMMM let me see...I have 22 years experience to your 40 hours worth ...

This Post is really directed to the State of NJ.
Will the State of NJ ever pass the ''Compact License Act''? I live in South Jersey, and it seems that it is getting harder and harder for LPN's to find decent work in this area. There are many opportunties in Central and Northern Jersey, and many in South Jersey for RN's.
