I am sorry to say that you will not be able to negotiate money in leiu of benefits. You will have to live by the terms of the contract that has been agreed upon by the union members. The SNF/Short Term Rehab facility that I work for had become unionized this year. The rehab dept. (COTAs and PTAs) had voted against it with a few others in the facility but were out voted. My concern: Has anyone else had to join a union and what impact, if any, has there been on the therapists and rehab dept.
