Dear Career Coach: I am wondering if you have any thoughts or advice about finding a job after age 60. I have been in practice for about 18 years. I am finding it rather scary to quit my job because I am worried about whether I will really be able to get another job. What do you think?

So I go from working part-time as a nurse to not really working
and just doing clinicals. My preceptors were pretty good about working with us
regarding schedules, which was amazing because I have 2 kids and a crazy
husband. This was more beneficial than I EVER realized!
Now? I realize... Let's see... In my first three weeks, I've
gotten ...

It is tough for new nurses in accelerated nurse practitioner
courses to find a first job. A lot of the places willing to hire new grads want
them full time, which is impossible with the work load our training requires.
There are some employers that require new nurses to sign a binding agreement to
complete a certain amount of hours or pay a ...

Well, as you guys know, I've passed boards and have already
accepted a position in an acute care setting. I actually started yesterday and
am so excited! So far I've been in orientation and the anticipation of actually
rounding and caring for patients is killing me! I start rounding next week and
am really looking forward to sharing this ...

Last month during the lull of winter break, I had a sudden
fear that I would not be able to find a job after graduation. I guess it was
because of the lull, no case studies to do, clinical hours completed for the
semester, and final grade deemed passing, that I had the time to contemplate a
life after school. This month, as my classes resume ...

pass rate of 99%. I had also studied a very well-known study guide, in addition
to listening to 2 sets of CDs (one of them for the last year!). I then took 2
''predictor'' examinations with decent scores that were predictive of me passing
Boards.
My
morning was ...

Wow! What a year this has been and with each opportunity and
experience I have been able to share, I have the ADVANCE community to thank for helping me to grow and be a better
professional. I have met so many wonderful people who continue to offer support
and challenge me with my every day struggles as an NP working in corrections.

Time, because of its duplicitous intangibility and
quantifiable nature is, to me, a perennially elusive phenomenon. You can
measure it but you can't hold it and yet it dictates the rhythms of life. While
I reflect on these ephemeral characteristics, the advent of 2013 ushers forth
the commencement of my second year as a Nurse Practitioner.
I ...

I am currently in a
class called ''Societal Forces'' as a precursor to my first semester of
advanced assessment in the Adult/Gero Primary Care Nurse Practitioner track.
The teachers are passionate and well informed. The speakers are excellent, but
the subject matter...The subject matter is frankly depressing. The class theme
seems to ...
