About Kevin Shields
With 8 years in health care, Kevin has an emphasis in IR/IC, acute care, charge capture, and revenue cycle auditing. Since 2006, he has been an Ingenix Coding & Referential Advisory Board Member; he belongs to the AHIMA Action Community for e-HIM Excellence (ACE) and recently jointed the BC Advantage Editorial Board. Kevin is a journalist/writer, with articles appearing in the AAPC Coding Edge, Advance for HIP and plans to publish elsewhere in the near future. Mr. Shields is a student of Health Information Technology at Weber State University in Ogden, UT, and serves as the HIMS Supervisor at the Louisville VA Medical Center, KY.
