About Kevin Honig

Hello everyone! I am fairly recent to working in health information management. I am actively pursing experience within the coding, reimbursement, and compliance arena. I began my education within a technical school, obtaining my diploma in medical coding and billing. I'm currently in attendance of an RHIT program, and expect to graduate in 2010. From there I plan on pursuing my bachelor's in health information management through the University of Cincinnati. I have been credentialed with the AAPC as a certified coder since 2006. Presently, I have worked in the profession for 2 years. I began working for a few months in a hospital setting, coding outpatient encounters. I am currently employed at a large outpatient clinic, coding for a multitude of medical specialties. Throughout my career, I have gained experience in data quality, documentation standards, reimbursement, and performance improvement. My goals are to work with inpatient coding and potentially gain the expertise to enter the consultant circuit. I am also planning on receiving coding credentials through AHIMA, as well as my RHIT and RHIA.
